A year of change

As we reach the end of the year, I wanted to share a short life update.

This year was quite good for me. I graduated with my master’s degree from college, and after a period of job searching, I found a new role. During my studies, I had the opportunity to work for a startup, and the experience was very positive. I learned a lot, worked with a friendly team, and gained practical experience with new technologies that I really enjoyed.

We were constantly improving our codebase and regularly adopting new tools. This allowed me to work with different technologies, tools, and libraries during that time. However, things do not always go as planned. Life has its ups and downs, and unfortunately the startup did not receive enough funding. As a result, the company decided to lay off several engineers, and I was one of them.

After that, I continued my studies and focused on completing my thesis. The thesis was another challenge for me. I felt uncertain about the topic and the project content because it was in a completely different area. I did not have much knowledge in this field, and it was not something I was very interested in. Despite these difficulties, I successfully defended my thesis and graduated at the end of February.

After graduation, I felt lost for a while. I did not have much knowledge of machine learning, but I still managed to complete my thesis while actively applying for jobs. It was a difficult period. I spent a lot of time preparing for interviews, checking different job platforms, and visiting company career websites every day. My goal was to apply to at least ten to fifteen positions daily. At the same time, I worked on my side projects, mostly within the JavaScript ecosystem.

I interviewed with many companies, startups, and agencies, but I often did not pass the technical stages. Many companies expected strong knowledge of fundamentals and core concepts. Some also sent puzzle style tasks, which were difficult and frustrating. In the end, I received an offer from a very good company in an area that was different from my previous experience.

In the past, I mainly worked in frontend development, but my current role is focused on DevOps and cloud technologies. I am very happy with this change. I am now working mostly with Azure and cloud tools, and this feels like a new chapter in my career. I hope to continue learning, improving my skills, and building meaningful projects.

As life continues, there is always something new to learn. Since the year is coming to an end and Christmas is approaching, I hope you will spend some good time with your loved ones.
